The hike starts on the outskirts of Dublin, where we walk up through the Kilmashogue forest on a well made track , as we ascend we will get a fine view across Dublin to Howth Head and the coast, and on a fine day can see as far as the Mourne Mountains to the north. We continue uphill on the Wicklow Way, a good mountain path, and as we approach Fairy Castle there are far reaching views of the Wicklow mountains to the south.

Grade: Easy/Moderate (Forest tracks and mountain paths).

Meeting point: Kilmashogue car park, 11.00am

Pick up point in Dublin: Tourist office, Suffolk Street, 10.00am (Transport can be provided, but spaces are limited, €5 per person, please contact us).

OSI Sheet: 56

Height gain: 360 metres (1180 ft.)

Distance: 11.5 km (7.2 miles)

Time: Approx. 4.5 hours

Cost €25.00 per person

(Please note: to do this hike you must have waterproof walking shoes, a waterproof jacket, warm clothing and warm hat and gloves. Without these items you will regrettably be excluded from participating. We have a limited supply of gear available to loan, but not boots. Please contact us.)
