On this hike we follow part of the Wicklow Way before turning onto a grassy path that heads uphill as we ascend first Brockagh East and then Brockagh, (556 metres), a broad hill of heather and granite boulders. From here we get wonderful views of the surrounding hills and valleys before returning to Glendalough via the pilgrim route of St. Kevin’s Way.
Grade: Moderate (Woodland trails, mountain paths, open hillside and track).
Meeting point: Glendalough visitor centre, 10.30 am
Height gain: 440 metres (1444 ft.)
Distance: 11km (6.8 miles)
Time: Approx. 5 hours
Cost €35.00 per person
To do this hike you must have good waterproof walking boots, a waterproof jacket and trousers, warm clothing and warm hat and gloves. The guide may turn you away if you arrive in runners.
