Laragh, Paddock Hill and Scarr – day hike (Moderate)

This hike is part of our winter series, run over Christmas week to get you out and about! They are routed over easier ground and cover a shorter distance than our usual hikes. This hike should take us around 4.5 hours to finish.

About Paddock Hill & Scarr Mountain guided day hike

The hike starts at the carpark next to St. Kevin’s church in Laragh village, and we quickly head into the woods where we pick up the Wicklow Way to cross the river and make our way steadily onto Paddock Hill.

Following a good track we leave the Wicklow Way after a time and head up to the east side of Scarr. A steep(ish) ascent sees us onto the summit ridge and a final pull up to the summit of Scarr at 644 metres, (2,113ft).

From this wonderful position we can get excellent views of much of the Wicklow range. From here we descend gradually on a good path via a broad whaleback ridge to Paddock Hill and our return track to Laragh. The hike should take around 4.5 hours.
